This Privacy Policy explains how Aurea Via Ltd (“Aurea Via”, “we”, “us” or “our”) collects, uses and protects information when you use the Lux Crucis mobile application (the “App”) and related services. We are committed to handling your information with the same care and reverence that shapes the App itself.
By using Lux Crucis, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Who we are
Lux Crucis is published by Aurea Via Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. We are the controller responsible for your personal data. You can reach us at any time at contact@aurea-via.co.uk or at the postal address listed at the end of this policy.
2. Information we collect
Lux Crucis is designed to work without requiring you to create an account or provide your name. We collect only what we need to run the App, deliver its features and improve your experience.
Information you provide
- Words, names or phrases you enter into study tools such as gematria, isopsephy and the AI study features.
- Notes and reflections you choose to save for journaling within the App.
- The contents of any message you send us for support, including your email address.
Information collected automatically
- Device and other identifiers — such as a device or installation identifier used for app functionality, security and analytics.
- App activity — how you interact with lessons, paths and tools, such as features used and study progress, so the App can track your journey and we can improve it.
- Diagnostics and performance data — crash logs, error reports and basic technical information about your device and app version.
- Approximate region and language — inferred from device settings to present content appropriately.
- Push notification token — if you enable notifications, so we can deliver daily reminders.
Purchases and subscriptions
When you buy a subscription or make an in-app purchase, payment is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We receive confirmation of your purchase and subscription status, but we do not receive or store your full payment card details.
3. How we use your information
- To provide and operate the App and its study features.
- To save your progress, preferences and reflections on your device and within the service.
- To process and validate subscriptions and in-app purchases.
- To generate AI study reflections when you use those features.
- To understand how the App is used, fix problems and improve content and reliability.
- To send daily reminders and notifications you have enabled.
- To respond to your support requests and communicate with you about the service.
- To protect against fraud and misuse, and to comply with our legal obligations.
4. AI study features
Some features generate study reflections using artificial intelligence. When you use them, the text you submit (such as a word, phrase or prompt) is sent to a trusted third-party AI provider that processes it on our behalf to return a response. This content is used only to generate your reflection and to operate and secure the feature.
Please do not enter sensitive personal information into AI or study tools. AI-generated reflections are provided for learning, journaling and contemplation only — they are not statements of fact, professional advice or spiritual authority.
5. Analytics and crash reporting
We use analytics and crash-reporting tools (which may include services such as Google Firebase and Google Analytics) to understand how the App performs and how features are used. These tools may collect device identifiers, app-activity data and diagnostic information. We use this information in aggregate to improve Lux Crucis.
7. Legal bases for processing (UK & EU)
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (to provide the App and process purchases); legitimate interests (to secure, maintain and improve the App); consent (for example, push notifications, which you can withdraw at any time); and legal obligation (to comply with applicable law).
8. Data retention
We keep information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. Much of your study data is stored on your device and is removed when you delete the App. You may request deletion of information we hold by contacting us (see “Your rights” below).
9. Security & international transfers
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Where information is transferred outside the UK or EEA, we take steps to ensure it is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of your personal information, to object to certain processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights — including requesting deletion of your data — email us at contact@aurea-via.co.uk. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
11. Children's privacy
Lux Crucis is intended for a general audience of adults and older students engaged in study and reflection. It is not directed to young children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children in a manner that would require verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide notice within the App. Your continued use of Lux Crucis after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
